Complete drive train fluids change

Just bought my 2001 Grand Caravan AWD last week.

I want to do a complete drive train fluid change (previous owner was clueless as to when he last changed any drive train fluids).

Looking at the online manuals this is the plan:

1) Transmission / filter = use ATF+4 to fill (plan to do a complete flush - where is the transmission cooler hoses that people keep talking about to disconnect?)

2) Power transfer unit = use 80W-90 to fill (looks like there is no drain plug and must suck out old fluid, is there a easier way to do this?)

3) Viscous Coupler Housing (I think this is the same as the overrunning clutch case?) = use ATF+4 to fill

4) Rear Differential Housing (I think this is the same as the rear carrier case?) = use 80W90 to fill

For those who have done these fluid changes, what brand ATF+4 and 80W90 did you use?

Any advise?

:dunno:

I know Carquest does sell ATF+4 and Wal Mart does too

Just finished everything last night. Took the afternoon to do all fluids.

Issues:

-Dropping the transmission pan. Removed all bolts but would not drop. Previous person who did fluid change or from factory fill used silicone glue to glue the pan on. Had to pry the sucker off and made a huge mess in the garage :banghead: . Used the rubber gasket that came with the transmission filter, will make things a lot easier next time.

-Power transfer unit. No drain hole. Used a suction pump to pump out 80W90 oil. The hole to the power transfer unit is small and had to use the smallest tubing (you can see what the problem is when pumping thick fluid through a small tube):swear:.

The rear fluids were easy to do.

All the fuids were really dark and ugly. Now have peace of mind that everyting is top notch :runaround: .
