I just go a 2000 Sonata and the ac was not working when I got it. The dealer re filled it and the ac works now but it seems like the car has no power when the ac is on. The car also makes a strange noise with the ac on. When you turn the ac off the noise goes away and so does the power thing. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

I've always noticed a little power loss when the a/c is on, especially in 4 cylinders. I used to drive a Nissan Sentra and I would joke about needing to use my turbo gear to pass someone and turn the a/c off lol.

Not knowing the noise that you're hearing, I would guess that it could be a belt or the compressor maybe? Is the noise constant or does it cycle?

Mine is a GLS V6. The noise gets louder when you push the gas. I dont spend too much time around cars so the only think I can think call is a whine.
