resonator

I'm trying to quiet my exhaust down. Im running 2 1/4 pipe and no cat. I was thinking that maybe a resonator would do the trick. So far Im convinced to stay away from glass packed but was hoping to get some response on how much a 12"-18" resonator would quiet. Also what brands out there that are not glass pack because most have been glass pack.

Moroso makes a glass pack-less resonator, supposed to be free flowing too. i,d go w/ a magnaflow.

you can lower your exhaust note by simply adding a section of pipe that is at least 1/2" larger I.D. than your current pipe.. it will act as an expansion chamber for the gasses, and cause acoustic flow reduction w/o adding enough backpressure to note.
Get a pair of adapters, the section of pipe, weld them together, as long as you want them, then add them into the pipe you're running now... preferably in the long ass straight part of the exhaust right after the cat.

What muffler are you using? I'm currently running no cat and a Turbo muffler with 2 1/4" exhaust and couldn't be happier with it. It has a nice tone to it, not loud until you stomp on it, and its still quiet even when pulling a CRX :)
And, a glass pack is a resonator. That is their original purpose. The way you hear them most of the time is people using them in place of a muffler.

I'm using a 18" Thrush Turbo on 2" catback right now... I don't hear it at all... everyone else says it sounds OK tho... I hear my intake over it all the time... trying to think of a way to quiet that down a bit more w/o sacrificing intake flow.

What are you running for an Intake? just a filter? lol

nah, it's DPFI, w/ a full intake, it's the first of two pipes that make a cold air, and places the 3" filter right behind the battery. I also have an AEM short ram... but it's just sitting in the back seat right now... I'll pry never use it.
