my 1989 firebird gets hot. it runs at about 200-210 i would like it to run at 170-185 i have replaced radiator, water pump, thermostat, cap, checked timing, replaced head and intake gaskets, so what is wrong can someone help me? also this car was wrecked in the front end when i bought it so have also installed an air scoop under neath the car. however i have not seen another one to compare in to so i do not know what is missing please tell me

200-210 is OPTIMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE.

You don't want it running cooler - this reduces your economy and messes with the operation of the computer. It also increases emissions - if you're running 200-210 you're running in the sweet spot.

if your driving down the highway it runs about that but if you are in town it gets up to 230-220 i also have a clutch fan on it because the electric did not even try to keep it cool and i had it checked out and it is fine what do you think i think i am missing some sort of shroud or air dam

p.s. thanks for your quick reply

The fan shroud would make all the difference in the world when driving around town. Go to a salvage yard and get one for your '89.
