Turn Signal Indicators

After I had some work done to my car, the shop decided to try and sell me a million other minor maintenances that I can do myself, but they did list one intriguing (hah!) item: L/R Side Markers out. I thought, "that's odd, the car didn't tell me any lights were out" so I ran all the lights and checked them out and while the side markers the closest to the wheel in the headlight assemby don't flash with the turn signals, I am not even sure they are meant to.

So the question is, do those lights (furthest around in the headlight assembly) even flash while the turn signals are flashing? Or do they just stay lit solid when the headlamps are on?

I'm 99.9% sure those lights do not flash with the turn signal.

He's right. Those are your cornering lights-- they don't flash.

cheap replacment bulbs have plastic plug-ins, and because these are the intrigues running lights they tend to melt and loose contact. I put the cheap ones in the reverse lights, and took the good factory bulbs with a glass connector and put them in the front.

edit: they melt mecause they are always lit up HIGH during the day, and these bulbs were really only meant to flash high and stay on low.

also, anyone notice these forums are running REALLY SLOW lately? i can bearly load a/f

betes99: next time you change your bulb, take a close look at the electrical connection especially the contacts for black residue. This connection tends to run hot and melts part of the plastic. When this happens you can try and clean it off but most likely the entire socket needs to be replaced. I had to replace mine 3 years ago. Piece of advice: buy it from www.gmpartsdirect.com or www.rockauto.com. It is half the price for the same part the dealer will sell you for $35. It will take a whopping 5 minutes to replace.

Sweet, that is what I thought; just a shop grubbing for money.

But that leads into another question: why the frak would you have amber lights on the side of the car that don't indicate turns?

If I remember correctly, the side marker light is white and comes on when the turn signal is activated to light up the area where the car is turning into.

the cornering light is white, but there is a small amber light beside the cornering lights that doesnt blink or do anything...just lights up.

Yes, I have noticed a lot of slowness and frequent timeouts on this site for several months now. I used to check the site almost daily, just to see what was going on, but now don't do that as much. I sent a message to the webmaster maybe a month ago. Don't know if he got it or not. Hope it does improve back to how it used to work.
