Car's value

My Wife and I are going through a Divorce and she has decided to make my 69 Camaro a hot topic. How do I determine, or how does the Court determine, the value of a 40 year old car that isn't listed in any Blue Book that I'm aware of? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I think they would have it appraised.

Sorry to hear this. Good luck

I would "sell" it to a buddy until the divorce is over. Tell them you owed him money and you sold it to him for $1,500. Especially if the car is in excellent shape. If its in "okay" or poor condition, you may want to have it appraised so they don't say " 1969 camaros go for this and yours should too" and have that price be way too high. That is of course if the buddy idea falls through.

Or just kill her in her sleep and collect the insurance.......just kidding, do it when shes awake so she suffers for trying to take a mans car..

I hope you're not the same guy who's wife was in here a few months ago wanting to take her husbands engine out to put into her lil honda or something. lol

As far as the value of the car, I'm sure you or the court would have it appraised. If you do the "sell to a buddy route" or if you really want to hang on to the car without losing it all... I'd contact some legal advice.

Thanks guys. Chalk one up for the little guy and man is she pissed. I was married in Nov of 02 and bought the car in Apr of 03. Seems like community property right? Well, my Lawyer has determined that the car was actually purchased with commission money I earned in 2002 and is considered pre-marriage funds even thought I didn't get the money until after we were married. She's entitled to have half of all the money I spent to restore the car but she can't have the car itself. I guarantee most of those receipts will mysteriously disappear. I would have burned it to the ground before I let that bitch drive off in it.

That IS great news!

On a side note....
I would have burned it to the ground before I let that bitch drive off in it.
You seem to have misspelled "that stupid skank".....don't want people getting the wrong idea....like you meant the car.

Well, I got to sit in this morning and hear her Laywer tell her what I already knew, that I bought it with pre-marriage income. I thought she was going to explode. By the end of the session, she had relinquished all rights to the car and had decided not to pursue recovering any money, joint or otherwise, used in the restoration. She didn't say a word in the elevator and when the doors opened, I stepped out and looked back and said "ain't karma a bitch". Life is good!!
