My 1998 Sunfire has a knocking noise in the front drivers tire, it seems worse on cold days or rainy days. It only does it when I coast or accelerate to like 40 and it sounds like my tire is thumping up against sometime when it rotates. It only does it sometimes, and everytime I go to have it looked at it doesn't do it. any ideas at what it is?

I think your car may be depressed I would not take it out on cold rainy days or see if you could get some prozac to help it out!
NOT really. I would take a look at the lug nuts and make sure they are all torqued to 100 pounds or at least the same amount of pressure when tightened down . Do not over tighten though as this could cause warpage to rotors as I have heard. you could also check rotor to make sure it is not warpped , brake calipers are tight , while wheel and brakes are off you could spin wheel bearing and see if it makes any kind of rough, grinding type of noise. There is also the CV axle but it usually make a clicking or poping noise when going bad usually during a turn .Tie rods weak, lower ball joint weak, But the simplest would be something in tire not losing air are you. and last that I can think of for now is loose plastic around fender or bumper area

Also take a look at the tire ....maybe cord separation / bubble in the tread ply. I have that before on a set of Bridgestones.
Are the tires wearing evenly ? Air pressure ?? If no...maybe a suspension issue.
Check the items" Kirkwood158" noted...he is right on track.
Cheers Mate.....
