Changing the Air Conditioner Belt

Does any one have any tips, shortcuts, advice etc. on how to change the air conditioner belt. Or do you have to do it the hard way and remove the exhaust downpipe and the alternator in order to get to the last nut to allow you adjust the tensioner or whatever in order to get the belt on. Please have mercy on me I basically have no mechanical skills but want to learn and the beast is a perfect candidate to learn on . Thanks

Terribly sorry. Not thinking clearly. The car is a 1991 Cutlass Calais with the 2.5 engine. Spent I don't know how long trying to get it done the other night then gave up in frustration. Any help appreciated. Thanks
