Have a 1967 Chev Malibu with some major rust problems. :uhoh:
It has minor surface rust here and there.
What would be the fastest, easiest, least costly way to fix it
Some guy wanted to buy it from me for $800 :chair: Fair price? Said the once rust shows on the outside it's eaten up the inside? So why does the area sound and feel solid when knocking on metal? Will post pictures soon.

$800? If the car has a clear title, he was trying to pull one over on you. Being a body man he could make an SS clone and sell it for a huge profit....
Who knows maybe even something crazy like this (http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/chevrolet/chevelle/622039.html)

$800? sounds like a steal to me...rust damage can be major or minor, hard to say without pics.
unless you are good with welders/grinders/general bodywork, you have some work ahead of you, but you have to learn somewhere, right?
good luck. keep your Malibu.

Only way get rid of rust is to sandblast it, or cut it out and weld in new metal. Remember, fix it right the first time and you won't have to fix it the second time. It don't look like it should be too bad of a job. At least it is pretty much all concealed to the trunk and most of the lip that has to be replaced will be covered by the rubber seal anyhow. Just take your time and it wont be that bad.

i say go down to your local autozone, home depot, or what ever, and buy a few gallons of paint striper. slap it on and see what the body looks like underneath the paint. then go from there. if you cant handle the work, sell that bad ass, if you can then go for it!
