2001 HD 6.0: Turn Lever Switch

My hazard lights switch does not engage. It sits and will not come up. I tried taking covers off for removal of the switch but was not able to. Any one knows how to...?

I finally was able to figure this one out.
Had to take both covers off (between wheel and i/p), then knee bolster off as well.
Before realizing I did not have to take off the whole turn signal assembly, I found out that the hazards switch comes out of the larger turn signal switch (At least on my 2001, with the red plastic), by just pulling it upwards from the larger switch.
I dissassembled the hazard lightas switch only to find out the inner routing for the spring and bolt assembly was shot (Probably from trying really hard and forcing it broke).
So, I actually removed the spring and bolt, and now it is working fine. I just have to be carefull to set it up correctly when activating: all the way up for hazards ON, almost all the way down for OFF (If it goes all the way down, it may short the relay and/or blow a fuse). It does stay in place.
I may have saved some money, at least for the time being, until I find a replacement for the hazards switch only, need to look in junk yards, will seek in dealer, but I don't think they carry it without the whole turn signal lever switch .

Unfortunately, that's one all-in-one switch. My Hazard button got broken by a stereo install shop but, it still works it's just that I can take the Red Hazard thing out from where it's suppose to go.

A new switch is about $110 on eBay if you can find one. I was actually thinking of buying one and just having it on hand; just in case my does fail some day.

That is exactly the contrary of what I found. You can take it out by just pulling it from the turn signal switch, without taking the turn signal switch out itself. BUT you do have to take both steering wheel covers off, and the lower knee bolster before that. I also had to remove instrument panel cover, like if you were going to remove the radio...
