Abs/brake Light

RR ABS / BRAKE stuck on!

The REAR ABS and BRAKE light on one of my rodeos have been stuck on for over a year now. I read a few other threads about this but my question is a bit different. I do not want to "fix" the Rear ABS. I don't like antilock brakes in the first place. I just want these lights to turn off. Is there a sensor somewhere in the brake system that I can disconnect to get these lights off or do I have to get behind the dash and go from there. Brand new alternator.

FWIW I was off-roading at night when this started, all of a sudden I lost all of my instrument lights. I took apart the dash, messed with the wires, got the instrument lights working again but ever since then these lights have been on. Not sure if that is when ABS stopped working as well but probably.

If you had the dash apart before do it again and just pull the bulbs.

You can also remove the passenger front seat, cut the carpet from around the ABS computer and remove the harness from the ABS computer. This will also turn off the ABS/brake lights without having to remove the bulbs.

Thanks, not sure which of those methods I'll use but those lights will turn off one way or the other.

the rodeo has a recall for the abs coil or modulator - you may want to check that out and see if there is still an open campaign on your vehicle or if it applies to it. dealer should replace for free.
