Working with Photoetch, slightly noobish questions from a not so noob

Ok I did a search and it answered one of my questions about what you guys like to use to cut p/e from the trees, but as I sit here looking at a picture of the tamiya p/e bending pliers....I'm wondering if they are really needed? What do you guys mainly use to bend your p/e parts with? I'm not a noob to building, but I'm a noob to working with p/e parts other than small emblems and the nice metal transfers in Tamiya kits. I'm asking this because I'm starting to add alot more detail to my builds, and i've finally picked up an Enzo kit and i'm going to detail it out with a good p/e set, and I want to be prepared for being able to handle the p/e in the best possible way. I've read Alex's great tutorial on working with p/e, and that also answered a few good questions. Any help guys is appreciated

I never regretted for buying bending pliers, not only can you bend but you can also firmly hold even the smallest part, sand it, shape it, everything.
It is more like power tweezer.

I've got both the Tamiya photo-etch pliers and an etchmate, and I have to admit that unless the part to be bent is either very long (tank fenders) or tiny, I find it easier to just use the pliers.
