Got pulled over last night

So I was coming back from york2600's house around 11 last night and I was just cruising goin the speed limit, and I pass this cop who was making a left turn onto another street, anyways, he pulls out behind me and just rides my ass for hella long, anyways at one point he turns his headlights off and back on again, and im like shit, hes got me for the lic. plate light. He tails me for a while after that also, I guess looking for something else, and then right when I round a turn he hits the lights. So im like shit, now he has me for the hiperblinker too ... anyways, so he comes up to the car and the convo went on as follows

Cop: How you doing this evening?
Me: Good
Cop: For someone who has just been pulled over, you dont look very nervous
Me: Cause I didnt do anything wrong that I know of
Cop: Well your lisence plate light is burned out
Me: Oh well, I will have to get that fixed
Cop: Lisence, Registration, Insurance
Me: *hands him all the shit*
Cop: Your registration expired 4 months ago, but I will run it through the computer to see if its current, hold tight
**20 Minutes Passes**
Cop: Well heres your warning notice to fix the light, you dont have to come down and show us or anything, have a nice night
Me: Thanks officer :rolleyes:

damn, why can't i ever get so lucky? :) but i guess i am, i haven't been pulled over in... well months now :) nice break man, you are lucky you didn't get an anal cop or anything, but i gues being confident helped

damn at least the y didnt bust you for some dumb shit....

I dunno man ... the fact that he even bothered is dumb enough. To harass me purley on a lic plate light thats burned out is LAME. That shits probably been out for like 2 months now and I have cruised by a couple of cops and none have ever even given me a second glance.

cmon now, as much as i hate being harassed by cops, just imagine if there were no cops and how dangerous the roads would be.

How would the cop know if you werent a criminal or something, maybe you took your license plate light out because you are running expired tags or something.

alls im sayin is give the cops a break, they are there for our protection.

In this instance I believe that this is a pretty good case of harassment, the fact that he had to turn his headlights off to determine weather or not my light was burned out was a pretty good indication that he was looking for a reason to pull me over.

Harassment my ass. All he did was what he was legally allowed to do. Did he have a reason to pull you over? YES, so how is that harassment ? If the police let every minor thing go before you knew it bigger things would be happening. Maybe you weren't driving as one should be and he thought that you might of had something to drink. You should learn the law before you start saying what harassment is and what it isn't. I know it pretty well seeing how i'm a Criminal Justice major and have had it for the past three years. Think of where you would be without police. Appericate the shit that they take from ignorant people.

Yeh i agree with Jmunk. I dont see how thats harrassing. I've been harrassed alot but thats normal in Chicago;)

i feel what the cop did was perfectly fine, at least he even offered to run your reg to make sure it was current, some cops woudlve just ticketed you right there.

For those of you that think MELT is lucky, think again.

My driving hazards:

i) Turning a corner, peeling out 1st and second, speeding up to about 90 in a 50 zone, and turning on my street that goes to my house. The lights came on, cop talked to me, gave me a warning.

ii) I ran a 4-way stop in the evening and a cop drove right by me and didn't bother to stop me.

iii) Caught RACING, with EVERYTHING on video. But on the video it looked like my friend was passing me, and my friend and I both told the same story so they wouldn't have had shit in court. They didn't get us on radar either, my friend was going 175 and I was going 130 slowing down. So we both got off hella-lucky there :D

iv) Caught illegally backing on a highway at night to check out some stupid shit with some friends and the cop was asking what I was doing and it was really suspicious and I got out of it by saying we were going back to the city to get some chips and stuff :P


So ya, I've been pretty fortunate with the law where I live :D.

And I was doing NOTHING out of the ordinary ... just mobbin down the street goin the speed limit, he tailed me LOOKING for a reason to pull me over ... probably need to prove that he was actually doing some work instead of chillin at the coffee shop.

You guys know me ... all the other times I have been pulled over I deserved it ... but this time was pure bullshit.
