The car can unlock from any of the switches in the car but it can only lock from the switch in the back of the car

What year is your Explorer? Does it have the remote keyless entry, and if so, does that work?

The explorer is a 1999 and it does not have a keyless remote.

The rear switch uses the same set of relays as the door switches. The only difference is where it gets the ground and a few connections. Since the door switches work fine to unlock, the grounds shouldn't be the issue, but you may want to check the splices.

Not too long ago another owner had a power lock problem that turned out to be a splice between the front and rear seats on the driver's side. You should use the "Search this forum" feature from the Explorer forum main page to pull up the details on that and see if maybe yours is the same.
