98 TS Stalls, won't idle

Hi everyone,
First post. We have a 98 P TS. It runs good. We can start it up just fine and drive it around. Then after a while, it begins to shut off after we start it, not holding the idle. Like going from one store to another. Drive then shut it off. Start it up, drive for a while then shut it off. Then all of a sudden it will start, but then just die. If we put our foot on the gas and hold it at an idle speed, usually it will be fine.
We just go back from a trip and it was running fine. An hour after getting home I had to run out. Started just fine. Went to start it to come home and it would not stay running. Even if I held the gas at an idle for a short period of time. It would just die. I tried it again an hour or so later, same thing. Now this morning it works just fine.
We found this thread from '05. It sounds like the same problem that we are now having. Haybale mentiones a canister by one of the back tires. Can anyone tell me exactly what this canister is and where it is located? I haven't gotten under there yet. Does anyone happen to have a picture of where the EGR valve is so I know what exactly what I'm looking for when I go to check that out?
Any other suggestions?
