Buying used engine from Craig's List?

Used engine from Craig's List?

Someone is selling two engines and some parts. One of the engines is the d15 which i'm looking to buy for 100 bucks.

Seems like he might well be legitimate enough.

But how do i know? Is there someone like me (no mechanical skill) to know? I don't want to pay someone to swap in an engine only to find out it's crap.

This guy lives about two hours away from me.

I might opt to stick with my original plan of picking up the d15 for 350 from a reputable jdm importer-- decent ebay rating. That might be worth the extra 250 bucks.

Any thoughts?

I just called the Craig's List guy. He already sold the engine.

that suxit got sold, but i've bought and sold plenty of stuff on craigslist...think you just need to get educated on what to look out for

no problem...but ine main thing that you need to do is get paperwork on the engine...don't need to go out buying a stolen engine :nono:

And if i did i'd effectively be paying someone to steal from one of our fellow civic enthusiasts. :)

Good point, i'll be sure to avoid that.

Well not only that..but if the cops find him, and come looking for the engine they'll take it back and you likely will not get your money back.
