Problem Charging Air Conditioner

Hello again, I've a 1996 Grand Prix, 3.1 with 230K miles. The problem I'm having with my AC is that it isn't getting cold. When I attempted to charge it, I'm not able too for some reason or another. It's like I can't add any more freon to the system for some reason or another. The gage is showing like 65 pounds but I"m not sure this is accurate since there is no cold air. The compressor is running and the clutch is engaging. Has anyone else on this forum had this problem?. Could my system be overcharged and if so, how do I correct this? If it isn't overcharged, how do I charge it? Should I buy another AC tool kit and or should I take it to a shop for a service check. I would appreciate any assistance that anyone could provide. In order to charge the AC, you must use the low side port in order to recharge the AC. The high side of the AC, the pressure is to high to add freon, and can also cause your freon container to explode. The pressure that you are measuring I believe id too high to be the low side. If the system was over charge is would still get cold, but not as colf as it should. It is possible that you might have a blockage in your system.

your trying to add freon to the low side with the engine running and max AC selected, correct?

Thanks for responding so promptly! I was using the low side port as I always have sir. The hose connector will not fit the high side port for it isn't the same size as the low side port. So, if there is a blockage, what is the best way to correct this or do i need to take it to a automotive shop for servicing?
