radiator fan question

When the engine is left running in park only the drivers side fan engages. It seems to cool the engine down adequately and I have not had any overheating problems. Are there two speeds where only one fan engages for low cooling and both come on for High cooling? Or is my passengers side just broken?

Thank you,

The other fan should come on when you turn on the air conditioning.

I tried running the air conditioning and the fan still does not come on. I did notice that the drivers side fan seems to come on prematurely and cools things down quickly. Any harm in this. Will the passenger's side fan come on if it reaches a certain temperature?

Thanks

Normally the temperature sensor controls the one fan. The other fan is for the air cond. try switching relays to see if the air cond. fan will come on. If this doesn't work change the relays back to the normal location.
Take a small hammer when the engine is running with the air cond. is turned tap the motor for this fan motor. If the motor turns on replace it with another motor. You can hot wire the fan motor to check it. Check the ground as some units are turned by the computer completing the ground. Use a test light and check both the hot and ground.
At this point go to http://www.alldata.com/ and buy a years subscription $25.00 as you will need a wiring diagram to check further.

Just curious, does the fan make that much difference in the AC's ability to cool?

Thank you

The air cond. won't work properly in hot weather without the fan.
