I just got a 94 caprice classic wagon. I was told it had the 350 police interceptor.
The sticker on the front of the car says 5.7L which I know is the 350.
Does this mean I have an lt1? If not what do I have?
What exactly is the police interceptor and how do I tell if I actually have it?
It has the dual exhaust if that makes a difference.

A police interceptor is a Ford trademark. You may be relieved to know you do not have a Ford engine in your Chevrolet.
If you have a '94, and it is a 5.7, you then indeed have an LT1 as that was the only 5.7/350 offered on that car in that model year. The LT1 was used in 9C1 (police) and civilian cars, there is no difference between the engines on any of these. A Caprice LT1 offers 260HP and 330 lb. ft. TQ.
All LT1 cars have dual exhaust.

"Police Interceptor" merely means that the modular engine will have liner seal failures and start blowing oil at about 70,000 miles. The LT1 is a one-piece block casting, and doesn't suffer that weakness. Besides, it makes substantially more torque and power than the mighty 280-ish inch Ford ever had a wet dream about.
