programming key

I just bought a 2006 corolla. It only came with one key. I am going to get a couple more keys made. I believe there is a way to program the keys myself and save the $30-$65 per key charge to have the keys programmed. if anybody has this info my email address is bpennerbus2@yahoo.com . Also, i was thinking about having a non transponder key cut to have as a hidden key on my car. Will putting this key in my door locks ( which are manual locks ) ,or if it accidentally got put in the ignition, cause vehicle problems. Thanks
