I have a 96 chevy truck that has a power steering pump whine. I changed the pump and followed the instructions regarding bleeding the system out and when I turn the wheels I still have a whine. The steering box does not bind up or leak. Any thoughts on how I can fix this problem? FYI the truck has a vacuum booster

spray soapy water on belt use small spray bottle.... see if its the belt or maybe belt contaimination as the pumps usually leak slightly at shaft seal.... if it is belt,, remove and use dish soap to remove oils.....also belt tension may be too much !

if it was the belt you would hear squeeking. on my dads 99 silverado 2500HD he has the pump changed and it still wines. maybe try checking the reservoir and the pully and make sure nothings wrong with them

P/S Fluid should be clear. If it is cloudy you probably still have air in the system. Check the fluid while it is making the noise.
