99 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.9

I'm wondering if any of you can help with this issue.

I have recently purchased a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 within the last 3 months. About a week ago i noticed some big problems with shifting. When i punch the gas the truck accelerates to a certain point then seems to down shift, the tac goes crazy high and the oil pressure drops. If i let off the gas things return to normal. In addition the truck seems to stutter a little bit in all acceleration.

If you have any ideas let me know

well, as far as the accelerating part, you should try and change the O2 sensors, and possibly the maf sensor, i have a 96 ram 1500, with the 5.9L. and when i first got it, it hesitated to accelerate, and bogged when i was slowing down...i replaced upstream and downstream O2 sensors, and it has no accelerating problems now...try that and let me know how it goes

5.9 eng does not have a MAF. It is speed density fuel injection.

yea, i only replaced the 2 O2 sensors. i was just told that the MAF is also encouraged to replace. never looked into it in my truck, so that would be why i didn't know it doesn't have one. haha

Have you checked for codes? And when you drive at normal highway speeds do you have any surging in RPM's? When was the last time you changed the trans. fluid?

Chrysler does not use a mass air flow sensor and I never seen one on a Chrysler product.Another test is do a back pressure test,it could be the cat plugged up.Make sure you the recomended Mopar fluid, ATF+4 and most parts stores sell it now instead of going to the dealer.Carquest is one that sells it.You check the fluid level in neutral,not in park and it says on the dipstick
