Currently I have 8 gauge RF wires in my car for my audio setup. I know that this is bad! But that is all I could afford at the time. Anyways I am upgrading to 1 gauge copper wires and would like to know how many feet I would need. I own a 97 LS cavalier. More info..I am running 1000 watt sony amp and 2 Rockfords P2's 1000 watts 500rms. Oh and what kind of fuse will I need now? Please be specific because I am purchasing piece by piece :) Any other info you can provide me will be great. Thanks alot.

P.S. Do I have to change my RCA cables or anything else so that it's matched with the 1 gauge wires?

Thanks!

thats overkill for that setup... a "1000" watt system has 80 amps of draw (an 80 amp fuse will do) 1 gauge wire has the potential to have 300 amps going thru it (3600 watts) so its a little bit overkill I would suggest saving some money and using 4 gauge wire instead ( i have a 1000 watt kenwood and 1500 watt rockford going with a single 4 gauge wire and a 2 farad cap)

honestly i have to p2's running on a 600 watt amp... with 8 gauge... you have to understand that with audio, no difference is really gonna be noticed until you really spend A LOT of money on your system. I have had my system for a year and a half now and spent 275 on the whole setup... my friend spent 500 on his and we both agree that the difference is none... so really think about how much ur spending and on wat quality ur spending it on. not sayin ur stuff is bad but you obviously dont have a super system haha like me...

I agree 8 guage is plenty. the sony amp is prob rated at max watts in reality is prob puttin out about 500-600 watts rms, I ran an older PPI (when they still put out top of the line stuff!) that was rated at 400 watts rms but was really underrated (when magazines tested them they really put out about 600 watts rms) and I never had any problems with headlight dim or anything else. good luck.
