My trans has the slamming into second gear and staying there problem..Aready had it to a trans shop for a solenoid pack replacement and it did nothing for it. I heard about removing the tcu and checking it for burn marks. Not really sure what kind of burn marks i'm looking for, due to the gel stuff in there. Used to home pc's not cars....but to expentive to keep on taking it to places. Does anyone have any pics of what these burn marks may look like....searched on the internet and cannot find any.

You would be looking for burn marks on the circuit board. I doubt you will be able to see anything through the gel though.

open up the tcu, when the capacitors blew on my board it was very noticible the board was fried, and the metal casing on the insdie was black. look for black marks on the inside of the casing. I needed a new tcu, dont bother calling a dealer they quoted me $1500 for a 92. scrap yard sells them for $25 bucks, but u might have to visit a few.
