I am trying to remove the front wiper arms. I have removed the caps and nuts but the arms do not pull up. I did tap the threaded wiper arm stud but it appears that it is not letting the arm go but rather driving the shaft out of the pivot. Now the pivot is loose. Can this be fixed or do I need to replace the assy. It appears that I am going to need a puller to get the arm off the shaft, but now the shaft has a upward and downward motion. Thanks for any advise on what to do.

Its a splined shaft that should pull straight off. Spray a bit of WD40 or the like and tap the shaft gently with a small hammer.

Get your self a battery post puller,it is also the puller for the wiper arms. You can get it at any parts store.WD40 is worthless as a penetratating oil.
