Engine swap?

I am trying to boost my 1986 Mazda 323 GTi. It has the 8-valve 4 cylinder engine i beleive and it appears to have some extra wiggle room. I have no power steering and no air conditioning therefore explaining the extra room. I am thinking of something like a 2.0 or something. Even if anyone knows about a small 6 cylinder fitting without much difficulty, that would be sweet. The engine is on it's last leg anyway and it would be the perfect opertunity to make a swap!

The early Mazda Protege 1.8l engines fit in 323's with little modification. The stock transmission works with the 1.8. You need the passenger side engine mount and ecu from the protege though.

The B6T GTX/GT/Capri XR2 engine bolts right in and is turbo/dohc...

BPT is a turbo/dohc 1.8L "escort/protege/miata" engine

Probe/MX6 2.5L V6 *might* bolt in?
