Manual Transmission???

Ok now, I have had two '97 grand prix gtps, my friend has one now too... He has been talking about how bad he wants to make that car have a stick, and i have never heard of it, I know that gm does not even make a manual transmission for any front wheel drive 3.8 Liter V6... My question is, Has anyone, anywhere ever heard of anyone putting a manual trans in a 97-02 grand prix gtp?
Frankly the only option I can think of, is either a complete custom transmission, or somehow getting the manual transmission from a front wheel drive 3.8 liter v6 2005 mitsubishi eclipe to bolt up to the l67... other than that i told him i dont think it can be done, so let me know if youve heard of anything

I have heard of it but have never seen one. As you stated there isn't even a transmission made for this application. The major issue would be getting it to work properly with a clutch since there is really no way to activate the clutch also a linkage for the transmission may be an issue as well. Tell him to put performance parts in his automatic and beef it up for extra power. Otherwise just stay with the automatic.

I remember a while back i thought it'd be cool if there were ever a rear wheel drive 97-03 GTP, never seen it either of course

We discussed this issue in the past and it has been done so it is not impossible. Also companies like Milzy are doing conversions on various GM "W" body cars which includes the Grand Prix to the new 6 speed manuals. Plus looking for guinea pigs. It depends on how deep your pockets are.. Checkout their web site.
