Dim Headlights

I have an '03 Venture that has extremely poor night time visibility. I have even gotten out and verified that the headlights were on a couple times--they were. The high/low function operates, but I just don't get the illumination that I believe I should. Is this a common problem with these vans and are there any solutions?

Yes it is an issue with these vans. You might want to try a brighter bulb in place of the original types that are used.

Any suggestions on the type/brand of bulb. I have the same problem.

I can't really make any recommendations at this time as I haven't had this issue and have replaced any burnt out bulb with a standard one. You could check out the selection of bulbs at your nearest auto parts stores to see what is available as it always seems to be changing. Perhaps other members can post some suggestions that have worked well for them.

I bought a pair of Sylvania Silverstar Ultra after one bulb burned out and they are definitively brighter than the old ones.

The lens also get clouded over with time and that doesn't help things either. I read somewhere but can't remember where there is some kind of kit that you can use to polish the lens back into good shape.

Also make sure the lights are properly adjusted and lined up where they should be on the road.

For some reason, Chevy used a 45W bulb instead of the standard 55W every other car uses. if someone finds a replacement bulb that will fit that is 55W, i would love to hear about it!
