Short Shifters?

I'm new to the Forum...new to G20's. And one thing that really bothers me is shifting length. Just way too long of a throw from gear to gear. So what short shifters are out there that doesn't make it too stiff to shift?

Don't have experience on the short shifters myself but if you use the search tab on this forum you're bound to get a few leads ... happy hunting:D

You're in luck. There are several available. Sure beats 5 years ago when I started modifying my car.

I highly recommend the Courtesy Nissan shifter. It's the least expensive I've found, yet the quality is quite high. It's definitely worth more than they charge for it.

Another excellent shifter is the SMC shifter, also sold by Pacesetter under license. SMC is in the LA area. Steve is a major supporter of the SR20 community and in fact owns a G20 himself. If you get one from him, tell him I sent you.

Others available include Stealin, C's, B&M, and there might be one or two other less common ones.

Generally when you first install the shifter it will be a bit stiffer. But after a while it works itself in and becomes more like stock. I've had mine, Pacesetter, on for 2 years and it's a real pleasure to shift.

where would I get some of these? Like he courtesy nissan one....can I get that from the dealer? And SMC is the shop here in LA? Oh...and around what is the cost of it? I found one from Stillen for like 250. Are these cheaper then that?

Yes, they are cheaper, but it depends if you want an adjustable one, or a normal shortened shifter. I have the pacesetter, it is adjustable, and i paid like $55 for it at a shop in Phoenix. But i think MSRP is closer to $120 or so. Either way it's much cheaper than $250 from $tillen. Hope this helps.

What about the Courtesy Nissan one that p10dt mentioned? Now is that something I get from the Dealer? is that a stock part? and how much does that run?

I don't know the current price on the shifter, but I think I paid about $70 two years ago.

do you recommend the nissan over the pacesetter? Cuz everyone here seems to be using the pacesetter...and love it.

I have a Stealin and a Courtesy (it's not Nissan). I like them both but the Stealin is significantly more expensive. I would never buy another.

I think I'd be just as happy with either the Courtesy or the SMC/Pacesetter. Get a hold of SMC. Tell Steve I sent you. He'll take care of you.
