:banghead: i have ben reading about all the stuff on the p1870 code. and i am more confused. should i get a shift enhanser, replace the valve, take it to the shop???? i have a 96 tahoe with a harsh 1st to 2nd shift no outher problems. i understand that the new 2000 and later valve bodies are rid of this problem (the valve body waring out and causing the valve to stick) so does anyone know if i can just swap the valve from anouther late model 4l60e into my 96 or is there any ideas to fix the prob.

you can get a reamer tool kit to enlarge the bore and buy the repair kit for it. they are available from many places. i bought mine from Best Brands LLC. they are on the net but they are also in my home town so it was easier to trust. if your carefull you should be able to do this fix.

Sonnax.com is a common supplier. It is a matter of the TCC valve in the valve body ( aluminum) wearing and causing a pressure loss during lock up, this can be a some what complicated job for a dyer without any mechanical backround, just some advice here.
