Serpentine Belt

Wow, just changed the serpentine belt on my '05 3.5L. Man what a chore. I am an experienced DIY'er but this thing was a pain. I have the factory manual and basically tried their method. I do have a specific tool for the job - basically a 3/8 drive socket head on a long thin bar - which was necessary to release the tensioner. You also have to remove the splash guard from the right front frame area. Then it is an over/under job. I must have been up and down a hundred times. The belt has 8 points of contact which is about double the number I have ever had to deal with. Anyway, I photocopied the belt diagram from my manual and put one at eye level and one at floor level to finally get it right. And then to finally get the last pulley, and adjust the belt so it was centered on all, I had to have a helper pull on the tensioner tool. So don't go solo.

So, not an un-doable job. But be ready to spend a fair amount of time and fair amount of sweat on the job.
