I know this has probably been posted already, but I am curious now. As I'm picking up my first car next weekend I want to know what other people have had. Mine will be an Aussie Valiant VJ 4 door Regal, anyone owned one of these or a Val before? Some tips or suggestions on them would help me alot!

I my first car was a 1972 Pontiac Grand Ville (Bonneville with more options:rolleyes: ) with a 455ci engine and true dual exhausts!:) it was a blast to drive but my gas tank was always empty:p I threw a rod in the engine while driving very fast with very little oil in the car. :(

Hilarious, since my first "car" (had trucks before that) was a 1991 Mazda 323 1.6L Slushbox. The tranny was teh weaksauce and I ended up swapping it out for a 5spd std.

I then went all out on the mods. Swapped in a JDM 1.8L Turbo, exhaust, intake, chipped ecu, wheels & tires, headwork, new cams, lightened flywheel, and nitrous

Nitrous ended the fun for me. The tranny had felt a bit weak after all the mods were done. The first time I was racing, I hit the nitrous and the tranny blew its load all over the street! Shards of metal where everywhere. Wires were cut, hoses were leaking, lets just say I was pissed. Couldnt find a shop locally that would strengthen one of those trannys for me. I gave up and ended up parting it out (lost alot of money) I was mad. Just one of the many reasons im not a fan of nitrous.

That put me off modifying imports, even though it was my fault

First car I drove and was considered mine was a 93 Ford Taurus Wagon, very cool car loved it till the transmission went out. The first car I paid for was a ’84 bmw 318i fun for a while but when down hill quick, traded it for $200, I don’t think it was worth that much

1st car: 1993 Plymouth Sundance with a bad tranny. we tried to swap it, but we found out that the whole drivetrain was destroyed (female ex-driven) so we sold it to junkyard for $300

2nd car: 1988 Nissan Pulsar NX. had the base carburated engine that probably didn't even make 90hp. car had so many problems (oil leak, bad carb, seized strut, rust everywhere) that i tossed it.

3rd car, but the first that actually ran properly, and the one i currently own: 1991 Pontiac Tempest (canadian-only version of Chevy Corsica) with 3.1 litre V6 and 337,000kms on it. luckily it's still running strong...but i don't know how much longer she'll last.

89' CamaroRS 305. It was pretty powerful considering that the 305's from that era were dogs. They produced 170-hp from the factory. However, the original owner was a serious wrencher. Edelbrock headers, racing camshaft, chip, enlarged water pump, Flowmasters, etc. too much to list. It had alot of torque & was great for burnouts but in the upper rpm range it fell on it's face.
Anyways, as soon as I get my imagestation account fixed:rolleyes: , I'll post a pic.

1977 Caprice Classic, what a beast, haha. It's got a 350 with a 4 barrel on it, only got a 3spd auto though so that sucks ass. It's a grey 2 door. i got like 225/75/15's on it i think. I also found out not too long ago from the insurance card it is around 3700 lbs, lighter than i thought. mileage sucks with it though. most i've ever gotten is 7 mpg, worthelss. i blame that on the 3 spd, and my foot of course. It is a fun car, and being an older one it is cheap insurance, and in an accident i should be fine if my seatbelt holds. i like havin a crappy car though, i'm not so worried bout beatin up

I had a 1972 Holden Torana S. It had the little Holden Red Six Cylinder engine with 2250cc or 138 cubic inches of capacity, ran a three speed manual column change, bias belted tyres (yep that's what was around BEFORE cross-plied tires) and had four wheel non-power assisted drum brakes.

I learnt a lot about driving in that car - it had more power than grip, more go than stop and you could hold a power slide at 15 mph on wet tarmac... you could have the car in a complete drift on metal ie unsealed roads and adjust under/oversteer with a curl of your toes.

Eventually, I sold 'The Beast' as my friends had dubbed her at the end of University to someone who repainted her, repowered her and made her his own...
