Painting stock headers?

I know this sounds stupid, but if you painted the stock headers with Dupli-COlor High Heat Engine Paint (kept a DIYers intake cool), wouldn't it reduce the amount of heat in the engine bay? It's a cermaic based spray paint that costs about $5 a can. Let me know what you think about this. Thanks.

I dont know how the headers are set up on the new civics. But what we do with ours, aftermarket, or stock, is rap them in heat tap. It is a fiberglass type of insulation. It works great.

Good luck getting it to work. Headers get VERY hot chances are your paint will just burn off.. You can try it though. I would say just do a little spot see what happens if it does burn or peal off then do the whole thing.

I agree with KB.. just get some of that thermal wrap and wrap them.

Another thing about painting headers is that you'd have to take the headers out most likely. Maybe it's easy for your car, but for mine, you basically have to go from under the car to get em out. So it'd be too much of a pain for me to do it, because I don't have a spare hydraulic lift lying around...
