Stalling and hard to start

My 99 Intigue starts fine first of the day. Then every subsequent start it requires a little pump on the gas and a longer time on the starter. Now it has begun if I slow or turn fast it will stall out. I can pop it in Neutral and restart fast but this sh!t is getting old fast. ANYONE have any ideas...PLEASE!

Do you have the 3.5? I had pretty much the same thing when my crank sensor went out. I youe check engine light on? If it is get it checked to find out what error codes are up. If it is the sensor theres a previous post to tell you how to change it.

From just the info you provided, it sounds like it`s an idling or fuel problem. When is the last time you changed the fuel filter or fuel pressure regulator? You didn`t say how many miles? As to the stalling problem it could also be a bad Idle Air Control valve or Mass Air Flow sensor, althogh it sounds like a dirty or clogged fuel filter or old FPR! I hope that helps!

I had the motor changed about 1.4yrs ago and I don't know if the FPR or filter were changed. Where is the FPR? Any clues??? I will change the filter just because......

The FPR is located on the back side of the fuel rail. It would be on the back right side of the fuel rail if you were standing in front of the car.

Its not a really hard part to change, the only thing I ran into was one of the o-rings from the old FPR was stuck in the hole, so I just reused the old one. But I still had starting problems and stalling even after I changed it.

My issues were completely resolved after cleaning my ignition switch. But my problems were slightly different than yours.

LittleHoov: Do you need any special tools to replace the FPR?

Not really, Im sure there is probably a special tool to get the clip off of there, but I just used a small screwdriver to pop it off, then summoned some otherworldly forces to get it back on, no big deal really :)

Seriously though, you just pop the clip off, pull the old one out, make sure the o-rings arent stuck in there, and make sure the screen comes out too. With mine I think I had to re use the old screen and keep one of the o-rings because like I said one o-ring was stuck, and I dropped the new screen into some engine abyss.

Yes Xcal... Littlehoov is correct. It`s located where he says it is. If that and a new fuel filter don`t do the trick I would close in on Mass Air Flow or Idle Air Control valve of which there is two IAC`s on the 3.5 if I`m not mistaken! But I`m pretty sure your trouble is fuel related.
