ive got an 85 camaro with a 2.8 v6 (lame!) and i have an 84 caprice classic with a 305. i really want to swap the v6 for the 305 into the camaro but i personally dont have the time to do it myself. does anybody know how much it would cost to get it done including swaping the tranny?

Well, a 305 out of a Caprice is a low powered stone as it is and will not speed up the Camaro much. The 305's in Camaros were quite different and faster than the Caprice 305.
It will be MUCH better to sell both Chevys and buy a V8 Camaro. Go for a 350 cid V8 Camaro.
If you must do the swap, since the 84 Camaro came with a version of the 305, you should be able to use V8 Camaro engine mounts, exhaust, hoses, radiator etc to do the swap. You will have to do some adaptation for the carburetor and ignition wiring to hook it up.
Also, the V6 front springs and shocks are way too soft and will need to be swapped for V8 car suspension components.

Average hourly labor charge in repair shop, $75-90. Minumum of 30 hours... Do the math!

My buddy did a 2.8 to a 350 swap in an 85 Camaro. WAY more trouble than it was worth.
