Well, im planning on putting the gt2860rs into my galant. The E316g is nice, but i just want a little more push past the 5.5k mark. I do have the supportive mods to do so also. Just wondering what this turbo is comprable to. I have this turbo sitting my garage yelling at for the past 2 years. It came off the S15 sr20det black tops. Just incase you guys dont know, the black tops came stock with these turbos. obviously i'll have to get some oil lines and stuff, but im wondering what other turbo this is comparable to or would you guy suggest going with this (insert turbo here) instead of this one? thanks for the reading!

well judging from that website it has a larger compressor wheel and a freeer flowing A/R ratio but on the other hand it doesn't say it makes that much power as the e3 is capable of 380hp (apparently I haven't gotten there and that thing is pretty much maxed) what else do you want to know?

GT2860RS? Im guessing thats a T28 in its glorified form. E316G owns any version of the t28. You need to look at what your HP goals are. Obviously that turbo is not going to make 360 just as the e316g is not going to make 380 unless youre engine is built out the ass and are running insane boost. Besides for 1100 you can get any form of the 16g with the install kit, instead of just that turbo, and have room to grow with an 18g or bastard 20g. Bottom line if your choices narrow down to a T28 and a 16g, definately go with the 16g.

my power range will be at least 320ish awhp this year, but it seems around that area of power, im maxing out the e16g. i want at least 350awhp or more without maximzing the turbo. so basically all boost. i've heard of the bastard 20g, any places where i can study more about this turbo? thanks guys!

I agree, dont even bother with that Garrett... at very best its the same size as the E316g plus you'd have to get a Garrett manifold and probably a new o2 housing and downpipe.
Nextly, you have a lot of other stuff to worry about before you worry about a bigger turbo. A 3" exhaust should be at the top of your list, followed by a K&N, boost guage, and MBC.
After that, those 550's wont be near enough for you to max out the Evo III 16g. Being that you want to max it out, I would suggest you go the E85 route... so you'll need 850cc injectors or bigger, an AFPR, and a Walbro 255. Also, I dont know what you mean by "FMIC ready" but better intercooling has to come before you get turbo antsy. If you decide to stay on pump gas then a FMIC is pretty much necessary, but regardless of what fuel an upgraded SMIC and hard upper pipe is a minimum.
After that, I'd say its time for some cams before you worry about a bigger turbo, I'd say get some BC 272's or FP2's.
If you still need more power, get yourself a bastard 20g, FP 18g 6SL2, sleeper 16g, 20g, or a 50 trim variant. Believe me though, if those mods you listed are all you have done, you'll be completely suprised once you get your bolt-on modlist rounded out. The bastard 20g is made by SBR, you can find the info on it yourself.

i've already got the bold-on modlist. i was also thinking about doing camshafts next also too, but with that i'll probably go DSMLink with the camshafts...unless for some magical reason the camshafts will idle with "alright" with just a s-afc. if it helps, i'll list the mods i have to give you guys a more accurate assumption and for my help on selective turbo or next mod. Hmmm...i will probably go with camshafts for my next mod though...ugh... i would love to go E85, but i want to stay on street gas and get the most reliability out of my car. oh, just to let you guys know, i dont have a 1g, i have a galant vr4. thanks for replying though, its giving me great info! :iceslolan

you won't have a problem with cams without link. It really has nothing to do with it. If your car seems like it is dying at idle you can just adjust the BISS and you are good. I have 272's and would highly recommend them. I actually think this garett turbo would be a downgrade from your e3 and not to mention it would be extremely costly as you would have to change manifolds as well. I haven't put on my fp 18g yet but when I do I will do a write up on the differences. If top end is what you want cams, and SMIM are the way to go because they will always work no matter what turbo you got on.
