I have a 2000 Intriugue and I was putting on some rain-ex today and i noticed a few very small chips in the windsheild. They are probably a 1/10 of an inch wide. Should I be concearned about these or are they to small?

I just noticed the same thing on my windshield a few weeks ago. I have at least 7 or 8 little chips throughout my windshield and they definitely weren't there before this past winter. I bought a windshield repair kit to fill in the chips and hopefully make them invisible. When the weather gets nice, I will actually use the kit.

Well, I have some experience in this matter since I've already replaced my windshield two times. The bottom line is that once a small crack starts it will eventually grow. Chips without the small ray pattern are probably ok. Anyway, i suspect that the only thing the repair kits do is make the chip less visible and will not prevent a crack from spreading.
The good news is that Intrigue's windshields are relatively cheap, about $165 installed.

Most glass places will only charge 10-20 bucks to repair a chip, some are not repairable though, the one I had was about quarter size with several runs. The guy said he didnt know if it would work but I told him to try anyway. In short it didnt work and now I have a crack thats about a foot or more long.
Whether you take it to a pro or fix it yourself, get it fixed, especially if your state has vehicle inspections. Mine will probably have to be replaced because its line of sight, unless I can sweet talk the mechanic.....if only there were more female mechanics.

My experience with windshield repair is very bad. If the glass is not cracked & traveling through your field of vision I wouldn't worry about it. If it bothers you get a new windshield.

Most car insurance companies will pay for the chip repair at no cost to you . It's cheaper for them to do that than pay their part of replacing the windshield. Check with your agent .I had mine fixed and it's holding up great !
