I highly doubt it will work. Are you talking about a 5spd or auto tranny? The manuals use the NVT-350 tranny I believe. I dont think you can use any kind of neon tranny. Even though the motors may be the same I think the trannies are a little different and isin't compatible. I could be wrong but I dont think it will work.
Either search a lot and see what you can find out or just get the tranny and compare it to the one in the car.

The only trannys I know of that will for sure work are the trannys from the Eclipse and Talon 420a, as well as the 95-98ish Avenger 420a. The neon may work, but you better do some more research. Try www.2gnt.com

yes you can use it, BUT! the neon trans has 3:55 gearing so if ur not boostin it its gunna be real doggy, also your eclipse clutch is hydrolic, that neons trans is a cable, so you hafto take you eclips bell housing off your transmission and put it on the neon transmission, then yes it will work, remember to swap the speed gear out of the eclips trans and put it into the neon trans. the a578 is off a sohc neon and thats exactly wat trans you need for the swap, i have that same exact trans in my 98 rs right now, and i blew it, so i am also lookin for a tranny, lol, if anyone has any questions about this swap just ask me, all i hafto do is walk outside and look at my own car, im just warning you now it is going to be alittle doggy with 3:55s, and if you want more proof call hahn they will straight up tell you that they are running that trans in ther 420a eclipse, i hope thats the answer you were looking for

What are you talking about? The clutch is hydraulic, silvr already told you that. The master/slave cylinders run off of a hydraulic pump (master cylinder) when you push in the pedal. The master cylinder then pushes fluid down the lines to the slave cylinder and pushes out a little pin that pushes on an arm which engages/disengages the clutch/pressure plate. The only cables used are the shifter cables from the shifter plate to the top of the transmission.

Yes but the guy i bought the tranny from just told me it was a cable clutch, as in no slave and master cylinder, just a cable going from the pedal to the tranny. now i just need to get the cable.

What car did the tranny come out of? Maybe an older neon may have used a cable clutch but I kind of doubt that. I would find out exactly what car it came out of and then look up what type of system it uses.
