brakes and rotors

I'm about to replace the rotors and pads on my 99 blazer 4.3L, front and back. I was wondering what's the best brand to get as far as not warping or wearing too quickly. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Don't get cheap stuff, unless you want problems! Look for Bendix, Wagner, Raybestos, etc, major name brand parts. Use carbon metalic or ceramic pads. When you do the rears, use remanufactured loaded calipers that include the mounting bracket, hardware, and pads. On the front, replace all of the hardware. Clean all rust and lube with a good brake lubricant. Permatex makes a synthetic brake lubricant that is superior. Cheap quality parts = longer braking distances, noisy brakes, and a good chance they'll pulsate.
Bottom line, do it right once and be done, or re-do it countless times, and never be done.

the material the pads are made from are key to wear life

softer the pads then the slower the rotors wear down but the quicker and messier the pads wear down

metallic pads are pretty heat fade resistant but are harder wearing on the rotors and make alot less mess than organics,
and can be somewhat noisy in some circumstances, are know for squealing sometimes


it is a matter of tradeoffs

if you drive in a city and stop often and/or hard then you will want metallics or better

not much you can do to prevent normal rotor wear, it happens period

it is a normal service replacement parts like pads are, they only last so long

heat causes warpage
