Some Drivetrain Questions

I have a couple questions about what options are available for dodge transmissions. I did a quick search and found that the nv4500 5-speed was used in 2003+ Ram Diesel trucks along with the nv56006-speed (which I don't know much about). I have ran Chevy's with the nv4500 and I really like the transmission. But to cut to the point, if someone could list out for me the years available and manual transmission options for those years I would appreciate it.
I am looking at doing a 12-Valve Cummins (maybe a 24v if I come across one at the right price...I already have a 12v) swap into a '83 GMC 3500. I am most interested in the NV4500 because I know the transmission a little better. But I am interested in the 6-Speed NV5600, so any information pertaining to either that you have would be appreciated. Also any knowledge of bolt-up issues with the NV4500 or 5600 and the 12 and 24 valve Cummins would also be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Also the donor truck for the 12v is a 92 Dodge 3500.
