Put the bracket [ in then type img then ], then on the other side, put another bracket [ type /img then close it with ] You can't really type it all out or it tries to display an actual picture. Or just right click on someones picture and get the properties, that should show you.
Below is an example without the img and /img inserted.

Well, from what I can tell you have to click on profile at the top of this page and then click on Edit Options. Scroll to the bottom and click on Change Avatar, I guess they will give you options for changing it, but I don't know how, becaus eI don't have 101 posts yet. Give it a try and see if it works!! :D
