Hmmm...I don't think there are many guys with LT1's on here, and not too many people with a turbo on their f-body. Injector size depends a lot on how much boost you are running. And turbine size depends on how much power you want to get out of the car. But I hope you plan on rebuilding the motor with forged internals, or else you will be limited by how much boost you can run on the stock motor.

im was thinking on boosting 5 to 7 pounds, for now cuz the buget is very limited, and I want to to this cuz a friend of mine offered me a turbine fully rebuild for 350 dolars and he told me it will work on his car (350 buick engine) or on mine, cuz on my town guys are a lot more in to imports and the only two with v8s are him and me also he didnt need it anymore cuz hes car is already turbo and he dont want to mess up the setup so he offered to me and I dont want to make a lot of power for now but since the oportunity is there Ill like to take advantege of it

if you're on a budget you're better off going with bolt-on mods instead of turbos.

turbo setups are pretty complicated, and shouldn't be attempted unless you know them well. and for 5-7psi of boost, you can get more power than that with bolt-ons for less money and less headache.

Yeah, turbos can be a pain to install, depending on where you mount it. I've heard the rear-mount STS kits aren't as complicated as ones that are traditionally mounted in the engine bay.

On a budget, I wouldn't do it. Its going to cost you more than you think. I say, stick with bolt-ons, a cam, and possibly some head work.

this are the number that I have in mind
turbine $350
fuel pump $120
intercooler free
boost gauge $40
blow off free
injectors 30lbs $150

this are the things that I already have almost on my hand I think I found at a cheap price also the setup and the tubes the guy thats selling me the turbine will to it for free cuz he and I work that way

remote turbos FTL.

they're crap, don't believe anyone that says otherwise.

Rear-mounts are better than dealing with a routing turbo-manifolds. There is nothing wrong with rear-mounts. Sure, the boost has to travel further and you may lose some pressure in the tubing, but its better than nothing.

Personally, I would go with a supercharger. But that's just me.

bolt ons > rear-mount turbo.

seriously. they're a waste of time and money.

what do you have to back up your statement that remote mount turbo's suck?

id have to do some google searching to support this statement, and if its really necessary i will, but i have seen dyno testing, before and after the install, that showed significant gains.

why should i ignore before and after dyno results because you say they suck?

not trying to be a huge prick, just curious.

bolt ons > rear-mount turbo.

seriously. they're a waste of time and money.

Hardly. Check out the forced induction section of LS1tech.com. Zombie is running 10s in the summertime at Las Vegas(100+ temps and DA over 5500'). I guess that sucks for a rearmount turbo. :screwy: Many others are running good times with rearmounts. Its tougher to setup then a front mount but they can work very well.

Seriously, if you want to go turbo, you're going to spend a lot of money. No real way around it. Budget turbo's are not easy and you will have to do the vast majority of the work.

Just to let you know, I have a built engine(LS1) and 60# injectors, twin 225lph intake fuel pump, bigger feed line, stock feed line is now return line and an aftermarket fuel rails & fuel pressure regulator. On top of that, I have an intercooler(recommend getting one on any Forced Induction kit) and alcohol-water injection. I have a 70mm turbo on it pushing 10psi(street) and about 650rwhp.

Now if you want to run 5-7psi, you can get away with smaller injectors and a single inline external pump(although with LT1 edit just get the biggest high impedence injectors you can get and tune for them because you'll get (just say for instance) 38# injectors but when you start wanting more boost, you'll end up getting 50# injectors or like me 60#ers...just figured I'd save you some $$$ in the future :grinyes: ). Make sure whoever tunes your car, they know what they are doing. Tune is a must and vital to the survival of your engine, built or stock.

Just trust me, I was that way 4 years ago...and now look at my car. Basically a street legal race car. I'm :screwy:
