The other day i turned on my wipers,(not realizing a chunk of ice was lodging it in place) b4 I could trun them off the damage was done:banghead:. Now, they work fine. When they are in the interval mode they rest in their correct spot. But, when you turn them off, they go to the straight up position. Wouldn't be horrible except they block my damn vision when thier not on, and I don't want them to run acrossed my dry windshield all the time. Any clue how to correct this? I removed them and put them in the correct off postion, then when I tried to turn them on, they tried to wipe my motor. NOT GOOD! LOL! How do I correct this? Sensor?

This is a hardware issue. If you have the time you should conduct a test or two. What I would do is take both wiper arms off the drive sprocket and mark the sprockets with a piece of masking tape wraped around and tabbed on both in the position you think the arms should be in when the unit is off. Turn on the wipers and see which way the tabs rotate. This will tell you if the drive is messed up. Look at the gear socket side of the wiper arms and see if they are stripped out. Ideally you should just have to reposition the wiper arms and that would be that. If that doesn't work then the wiper motor and drive system may be internally damaged. The motor is harder to get to than it is to replace. Let me know what you figure out, this is an interesting delima.

Yup tried to reposition them, like I said the result was a cleaner engine compartment. LOL! Not sure what to try next

So after trying to replace the motor, I found out that a metal tab where the gears turn the arms was bent over, not telling the arms when they went to far!
