The 90-93 integra didn't come with a ZC, it came with the B18A. The JDM CR-X Si had the DOHC ZC in it. So, i cant compare the hp of those two "ZCs" ;)

if you think the ZC will take the Y8, we will just have to wait and see. I put back a 98 teg RS tonight...3 cars from the start and 1 car from 30. Word. Anyway, I'm always up for a good race. Badstbtch, don't be jealous that you got beat by the Y8...and yes, we will do it again sometime, just put some money where your mouth is!! DAMN!!!!!!:flipa:

Any one know of a good place to get a good price on a dohc zc? I would like to change out the econo engine and get a little more power. Thought about b16, but it's just too much. Can't afford them.

www.hmotorsonline.com You want the JDM one Because the "ZC" that came in the 86-89 integras is actualy a D16A1 which is verry similar but it wont bolt into you car without alot of modification! The mounts on the integra were totaly different! BTW Hmotorsonline got the motor to me for $750 shiped and was at my doorstep 2 days after I ordered it!

you see that...$750 shipped. That is $500 more than what I am asking for the A6. New rings, p&p head, put a nice cam in it, still have enough for a NOS setup. I still got it. haha.

Wow! And it still wont put out 130! Shit, you can get 120 to the wheels with just I/H/E and an exaust camshaft with the DOHC ZC.... I have seen it done! Homeboys got 118 WHP and 117 Ft lbs TQ... A6 wont do that shit... Im givin my A6 away! LOL, I wouldnt imagin charging for it!

Neither does a zc. Let me see some dyno sheet.

I can not show you a Dyno sheet I do not poses... But here is a similar setup with I/H/E and cam gears instead of a camshaft. No dyno sheet here iether, just word of mouth:

Just had my crx with a zc motor, dc headers, k&n, ultraflo, straight pipe, and stock ecu dyno. Baseline run came out to be 112.1hp, 98.6 ft-lbs @ 6800 rpm at the wheel. After installing cusco cam sprockets(v-tec), it increased to 118.8 hp, 107.0 ft-lbs at 6800 rpm at the wheel. This gain was not as significant as the power gain at 3000 rpm to 5000 rpm which was a gain of 16.2 hp and 26.9 ft-lbs. All runs were made on 3rd gear on a stock si tran. Like to thank Aries at dynamic autosports for his bomb-ass hypertuning adjustments!"
This only makes 107 ft lbs tq... Not bad thoe for just I/H/E and some cam gears! Now back to scouring the internet for some N/A ZC Dyno's...

Ok, the first generation Integra came with the ZC as did the 3rd, 4th and 5th gen Civics and the 1st and 2nd gen CRXs as well as the rover badged 'teg. Some Conchertos also came out with this motor too.
All were rated at 130ps (129bhp) except for the computer controlled twin-carb that came in one of the 'tegs making about 110 I think.
This may just be the Japan built cars though, not the USDM.
A great motor as long as it's not taken past 8000rpm, we had a 3rd gen import Si doing the circuits here which was putting out 200bhp NA in full mugen trim.

Just like any motor, if you take it past X rpms it will float valves and break rods... I will be handling these broblems with internals and aftermartket camshafts. Its just funny that dude thinks I cant overpower a B16A with ease with the JDM DOHC ZC.... LOL! I'll take the other $1000 and make the ZC as fast if not faster than the B16A1... I meen come on 9.5:1 CR ZC vs 10.2:1 B16A... Stick those pistons in the ZC and see what it does!
Actualy, why didnt honda put higher CR pistons in the DOHC ZC? Anyone know? Whas it just a matter of not wanting to spend the extra money? I think that must be it and they didnt want people throwing the weak rods in the ZC.... I hear horror stories about people snaping these rods like twigs @ 7800 Rpm's so that must be the reason... Cheap bastards!
Hey sententa, since you guys have these motors were your @ can you give me a HP estimate on this setup?
11.16:1 CR pistons
Eagle Rods (Good to 700+ hp)
New billet cams Intake: durration 256 Lift 10.9 Exaust: Durration 256 Lift 9.2.... Think I can hit 8K and be cool with these as well?
cam gears
BBK 62mm TB
Aem cold air intake
Dc header and custom exaust
Everything ballanced to 9K
Point face titanium valves and a nice copper head gasket to hold it all in there ;)

Seth, remember how you tried to convince me you had a '94 ZC, and they made ZCs through '98, well, when I looked into it, I could only find that the JDM '93 Integra had the ZC, so you might want to look on your block under your header at the date that is imprinted on the block. Whoever you bought the motor from might have BSed you.

Umm... actually, in the non US market the ZC powered the EG series of Civics. So that's to what? '96???? It lost the ZC tag and was marketed as a D16 (I cant remember the rest of the designation). It came out as an EG Si though, the VTi was the SOHC VTEC.
Seth - look at the ZC's Bore/Stroke ratio and work out the terminal velocity of the pistons at high RPM (where you will have to make power if you don't go forced induction). It's massively undersquare which gives it great torque, but does not make it anywhere into the league of the B16A as a revvable engine.
The ZC is a great workhorse engine, but will never match a B16A in terms of what it can do. For forced induction it's fantastic, but its peak is about 200bhp NA if you are to spend thousands on it... but that's it.
I'm not knocking it - it's a great engine... but it's not the greatest - nor is the B16A for that matter

Ok, now that I got some information about where to get an engine, I got to ask another question.
My car has an AT, which is ok, cause I'm a new driver. Like I said I want a little more power and options, so I want to go with a ZC. I hear that it will bolt right on, even to the tranny. I want to know if this will still work with my AT, if I need to get a new AT ZC tranny, or should just forget about the whole idea.
I'm more interested in handling than power; windy roads than 1/4 mile times. I know the differences between manual and at. You don't have to convince me, but I got to work with the vehicle I got and a complete trasmission system change over is too expensive.
Any info is appreciated.

This is what I got off of JDMfan:
5G (1992-1995)
EG5 - n/a - JDM - All years - (ZC DOHC)
As far as 6G is concerned, there weren't any in Japan. So I guess you could have a '94 JDM ZC then, but that would also mean the last year was actually '95, but I can't find a resource of EDM engine specs for various models. If someone has a link, they should post it up.

Yea... UM it has to be newer than 91... Because I know for a fact all the JDM DOHC ZC motors from 88-91 had a date taged in between cyl #2 and #4... So if it were a 1988 it would have 88 stamped on the head... Mine says..... Noting, there is no numbers there so I have to assume that its a 92+. Not to mention its WAY to clean to be more than 10 years old! When I cracked the bitch open all the internals were clean...
Yes, I am "GIVING" the motor to greg for the small fee of course, getting it out of my hair after I'm done with the swap ;) He's also getting the 9.6:1 ZC pistons and the rods... I think when you throw these in the A6 it yields a much higher CR... Anyone know for sure?

dont sleep on ZC's i ran a WRX, RX-7 and many civics early last night and did not loose at the WA street races and my zc is lightly uhhh modded hehe...took the turbo off until i get my new BOV and FMIC so its N/A tuned right now and still spinning 3rd :)

yea that's what i like about it. it has just about the same amount of torque as a b16, and remember kids hp sells cars, torque wins races.(this in a nutshell btw, i don't feel like goin into details.) and std you y8 has no chance against the zc because i have more power and i know how to drive a 5 SPEED!! hehe j/k oh wait you changed that didn't you
