so i have these spots on my car, that look like the paint is faiding, they are really small on the driverside of the roof, and one on the passenger side of the wing... and was wondering if anyone knows a way to cure it before it gets bad... its not bad at all, like i tried to get pics of it, and no matter how i took the pics, you cant see it... but with your eyes you can see it... i wax the car every 6 months (polymer) and its kept in the garage... the car is black and the "faided spots" are almost like white ish grey... its bugging the hell out of me!

You can't fix it. You can maybe temporarily slow it down by keeping it waxed, but it's a bad spot in the clearcoat. The only way to fix it is to repaint the car. It seems like its only black that does that, and a few red. I had to repaint my buddies black GS because it got so bad.

Yup, I got faded paint here too. On my hood and driver side fender.

Roof, Old hood, Hatch, and above quarter panels on both sides. Looks bad but nothing to do about it.

FU***K!!!!! :banghead: my only option is to repaint it? i guess i'll start puting away money for a paint job in the next year or so... maybe after i get out of school... how much does a GOOD paint jop run on average? **same color and everything, just a good re-paint?

I'd say no less than 1,200 bucks

A GOOD paintjob that looks factory, probably between $1500-2000 when you're all said and done. Like I said, you could probably try keep alot of wax on it and maybe try slow the damage down, but the only option to fix it is to repaint.

thats not TOO bad.. i was thinking it would be like 3k+... thats not to bad at all... i'll get some estimates... but i think i'm just going to wax it and leave it alone untill it really starts to become noticible...

Just make sure to wax the bad parts excessively. Like after every wash wouldn't be a bad idea. Anything will help.

Yeah Mitsubishi is notorious about the black and red paints. Seems they took a shortcut and fucked us on the paint, but any way, paint should run you under $2k for very nice factory type paint. And no there is no other way to fix it.:banghead:
