Anybody know how/what special tools needed to remove rear shocks on a 2001 cartier? I tried going in from the rear fender well with a ratcheting wrench to remove the top bolt but this proved to be near impossible with the tool I have.
Good news is I bought an Ipod adapter made by peripheral and it works great! Highly recommend it.

Is the shaft just spinning on you? You might have to cut that plastic shield off the shock. Clamp some vice grips on the shaft and go from there. Get a buddy to help. You could flip a coin to see who has to climb into the trunk or hold the vice grips. I would take the inside of the trunk part my self. My wife has one of those I pod adapters and she loves it, too far out there for me I'll just stick with my 8 track tapes. good luck

I've heard the best way, and I'm guessing that means the quickest way, is to use a nut-splitter (http://images.google.com/images?q=nut+splitter&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2&hl=en&suggon=0&safe=off).
