Directional Signal

I have a 2002 Alero and recently my directionals have stopped working. Last night I had to turn the hazards on and off and then they started working. Obviously there is a loose connection somewhere, but I have no idea as to where to start looking. Any suggestions?

there was a recall on the alero's signals because, well they just don't work. if you take it into a GM dealer they will fix it for you. mine did that last year, and even the hazards were intermitent. it's really lame, but call up aGM dealer and they do it for free because of the stupid recall, or at least that's what they did for my 01 alero. best wishes.

Do you have a copy of this recall. MY turn signal works intermidently off and on it works. Sometimes it just goes off and then back on, anyone know if this is part of the recall? and what the issue is??

thanks

Just an FYI on the recall. We had an 2000 GLS alero. When I contacted a dealership and gave them our VIN, I was informed that our car was not covered under the recall. The reason? The recall pertains to certain vehicles made at a certain factory. Our VIN/car was not made at the factory that the recall was called aganist. Even though we had the same problem they wanted to charge us for the replacement. Food for thought....

Its not exactly a recall, but GM will fix it for free for a while.
This special policy covers the condition for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles.
You car must be within these VIN breaks. Last 8 of VIN

It is GM bulletin 04098A. If they won't do it for you, the bulletin tells what parts you need, and shows how to do it. Replacing the hazard switch will fix both the hazard lights and the turn signals, since the flasher for the turn signals is built into the hazard switch.
