2 days and 150 miles after having my 1996 buick regals' transmission rebuilt i started the car that morning to warm up . looked outside a few minutes later and it was on fire, i saw what looked like FUEL ON FIRE dripping from under the oil and transmission pan. does anyone feel like me and believe it could have been the something that the company did or didnt do to cause this problem?

it would be really nice if someone might see a potential problem that might cause this.

i know the company wanted to send their insurances investigator to deternine the cause, but i dont feel like they would be looking out for me .i suggested a third party investigator, and im having problems finding one.

the company told me that they didnt have to remove any fuel lines so i was wondering if the may have damaged one during installation or if the fuel lines not an issue doing this job

thank you franklin

you have to pull the cradle and let the motor hang to do a tranny on one of those. Whether or not they touched the fuel line doesn't mean much. They are definitely capable of damaging it either way

I can't speak for your particlar insurance investigator, but most of them are quite honest and upfront. I personally would let them look at it. If you don't like their conclusion, THEN look for a second opinion. I have a pretty good hunch they are going to come to the right conclusion, and you'll get a new car.

BTW, one of the steps for removing the tranny right out of my service procedure on your car: "Remove fuel pipe retainers"

It won't matter what you tell the investigator, law requires auto repair facilities to prepare an official work order for records and among the minimum requirements is odometer reading. Also I don't think 150 miles will cause you any problems, any respectable warranty will far surpass 150 miles and 2 days. Lying will only complicate things and likely lengthen the process of settlement. Also if this was done at a large chain their investigator will not hestitate to find in your favor if its the truth. Large chains like the one I work at will readily shell out a few thousand to protect their reputation.

thank you . i had a certified machanic look at it today , we found several bolts that had been left out and several more that were loose
i didnt allow him to really examine , we just looked around to see what we could see
he said the fire looks like an electric fire and it looked like it could have started at starter. because the plastic base where the terminals screw down to starter was cracked in several places and the main hot and terminal was hanging down away from starter. it didnt seem to be burnt at all, hell everthing else was . im going to find an fire investagator to figure it out . seem like thats what its going to take .

thankyou

" Lying will only complicate things and likely lengthen the process of settlement" .
I never said to LIE about the mileage!! I said don't tell them the mileage....

this is a common problem getting the vehicle out the door as fast as possible ,and not securing all the hardware as well as damaging the other componets and of course they will not say anything to you about all the stuff they damaged......."prove it that we broke it" .....after you get remedy on this report there poor workmanship.....
