92 Lesabre Starting issues. Thinks its VATS

Morning,
I have a 92 Lesabre that will not crank the starter with the key. I can jump the starter from under the hood with a screw driver and the engine will start then die if the ignition is in the on position. I believe it to be the VATS thats causing me problems.
So question:
With the key in the on position should the Security light blink or go out?
Does my problem sound VATS related?

If the security is blinking, you have a problem with the security system. Do you have a spare key to try, or have you tried cleaning the resistor pellet in your existing key?

I agree with the above- if you want to permanently bypass the VATS syste- never to see that ugly security light again- it can be as simple as soldering in a resistor that matches the one in your key-- I have done a handful this way...

I would first suspect the transaxle position switch (the part that controls the car starting in only park or neutral.) I would suspect this before VATS. Nevertheless, it could be VATS. Bypass that puppy by soldering a resistor and then see if it works. If not, properly diagnose it with a good manual (GM or alldata.com.)

It was the VATS. I put the resistor across the 2 white wires under the dash and the security light went solid and the car started.
