Knocking in front suspension

Could someone tell me if there is a way to tell the difference between a wheel bearing going out, or a cv joint? The knocking sound is at all speeds, worse above 50 mph. The noise seems to go away when I turn right so I am thinking it is the Cv joint.....Thanks

sounds like a wheel bearing to me. or a tire/alignment issue. or a transmission issue but probably not. an axle will click when you go around corners if its going out. unless its about to break usually an axle will not make noise going straight.

Thanks for the info slideways... (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=293248)

I cleaned out and repacked the cv joint, same problem. Anyone else here have any tips on changing out a wheel bearing?

get a bench press, or someone who has and knows how to use one. it will help 100% with headaches. (well ok maybe 99%).

oh and you might try and ask someone who knows about cars to look at it also. just because wheel bearings dont usually "knock". but they can, and without even looking at your car i couldnt know for sure thats the problem.
